When in Rome, do as the Romans do… So when in Belgrade spoil yourself with Serbian cuisine. Don’t leave before you try kajmak, ajvar, pljeskavica, ćevap and Karađorđeva šnicla. You may wonder what these strange names mean.
Kajmak (kaymak) is dairy product, made by separating cream that rises to the surface while boiling milk.
Ajvar is a type of salad made of red peppers and there is no Serbian who doesn’t like it. A tip: peppres should be roasted, not cooked.
Pljeskavica, Serbian burger but way better. Made of minced meat, served with side dishes it will make your mouth water. Don’t forget onion, unavoidable addition to it.
